Comparative Effectiveness Reviews and Cost/Benefit Analyses (Economist)

Important health debate from The Economist [link].

"This house believes that the widespread use of comparative effectiveness reviews and cost/benefit analyses will stifle medical innovation and lead to an unacceptable rationing of health care."

Defending the motion - Newt Gingrich
Former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and Founder, Center for Health Transformation

Against the motion - Sir Michael Rawlins
Chairman, National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE)

My vote is for Sir Michael Rawlins.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Revealed to Have Jewish Past

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is revealed to have Jewish past according to a report in the Telegraph newspaper (link).

A photograph of Ahmadinejad, holding up his identity card, during elections in March 2008 clearly shows his family has Jewish roots. He was previously known as Sabourjian – a Jewish name meaning cloth weaver. Sabourjian is a well known Jewish name in Iran.

A note on the card suggests his family changed its name to Ahmadinejad when they converted to Islam after his birth.
